What did i learn? I thought in the middle of the day: Truth: GOD LOVES ME NOW! This was a good moment!

People say: I have no time to be out and meet lost souls. Do i say the same? I say the same. At least i think this is SO wrong. What do i do? Repent and start sharing next day again! Is this true? This week it is true.

But what did i learn? I need to find out what is biblical about "independence" - What is the biblical word, concept behind it?
I learned, that i have a friend who starts seriously seeking the truth!

I learned: GOD LOVES ME

The Spirit of Grace Confronts Performance

deception of flesh >> performance

When my innermost need for love and worth is't met by a crave-filled relationship with our Creator, we mist try o meet our needs by a performance-filled relationship with everything bedsides GOD.

Exchange of the truth of GOD with a lie > Rom 1,22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

My worth is rooted in God's grace not our performance

Jesus Christ: The Revelation of True Humanity

FIRST:
Jesus is a concrete example
Jesus showed me what does it mean to fully depend on God
Jesus showed me what it means to receive every thing what i need from the father
Jon 15,19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.His life manifested what does it mean to be perfectly submitted to the father
Mat 26,39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Luk 22,42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
John 5,30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.
He showed what it is to talk with the father
He showed what it is to life unceasingly in the Father's presence
He showed what it is to radiate the Father's holiness and love in our lives

In short:
He perfectly manifested what humanity lost in the fall

and

How to regained when the resultes of the fall are reversed through the work of the Spirit of God in our lives.

I am confused - but - AMEN - i have GOD! this is awesome!

Meeting now

Preparing DEVO for tonight

Meeting
Meeting

DEVO

No idea how i can do it all together! Specially the DEVO! God needs to do a miracle! PLEASE!
A Behaviorist God
History
A God he comes across like: DISTANT / AUSTERE / Angry / AUTORITATIVE

embracing Christ

Are there multitude of rules by which i have to abide?
Are there particular beliefs i have to embrace if i want  to walk in a real relationship with God?
--   ----               and remain saved?
Is the threat of hell constantly present?

If i would describe the God i have in my emotions, experience, in my heart - would it look like Jesus?

Someone to whom prostitutes and tax collectors gravitated because of his outrageous love.

Is my God accepting anyone for free?
Is my God loving, the love it selfe?
Is my God concerned about people ore about the right behavior?

We talk so much about the love of God - BUT - my actual mental picture of God is neither loving nor gracious.

Is my God a God everybody would be excited to live?
I say i love God - BUT - deep in my heart, CAN I LOVE HIM?

Is my hard work just succeeding in making me extremely tired?
Am i living empty?
Am i trying to get full by doing rather than living out of a fullness that i received form God for free?

Am i free from the assumption that my worth is found in my doing and that it was never good enough?

Is my life a constant sicle between intense religious activity and intens sinning?

Is the picture of my God shaming me ore empowering me to rise above the Sin?

Is the picture of my God convincing me, that i am going to hell for my behavior or does it touch the real issues behind my behavior and thus permanently change.

Do i feel temporarily holy but never in genuine holy?
<><>:::::::::<><>
AM I INFUSED WITH LOVE AND AM I BEING CHANGED FROM THE INSIDE. IS THEIR A PRODUCTION OF GENUINE HOLINESS GOING ON INSIDE OF ME?

Getting Real with the Real God
What would help?
If God is real
If God is love
What helps when my Son tries to pull a heavy thing? Giving up and letting pulling me - his father - i like to pull for my Son!

GIVING UP

Concluding that i am hopeless - I AM!
Believing now that i had nothing to lose - because i go to hell anyway
SO I CAN BE REAL WITH GOD

What is true inside can be shown outside

Do i always try to manufacture?
Am i frustrated deep inside?
Am i angry with God?

Is living for God a performance game i am not very good at
Quit the game
Am i truthful to God?

The truth:
Rom 8,1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

The true Jesus loves me as I AM.

2 Cor 4,6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

My worth is giving to me by all-loving God for free and that I did not need to attempt to earn his acceptance through my behavior.

Does the fact that i now realize, i am loved as i am make me want to go out and sin more?

Your Picture of God

Demanding?
Behavior oriented?
easily disappointed?
frequently angry?
Intimidating?

Is it then possible to love such a God?
Is it possible to be fired up about such a God?

= Jesus - is he lie this? Was he like this?

(Do i feel more tired, more frustrated, emptier) but NEVER TRANSFORMED?

The Holy Spirit brings growth, life, zeal and passion by breaking our deception and showing as a God WHO IS SOMEONE ABOUT WHOM IT IS WORTH BECOMING PASSIONATE!

The Holy Spirit makes the Real Jesus Real to me!
As a result of this, real fruit starts growing

THE SPIRIT OF JESUS

John 3,19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
2. Cor 4,4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

If i would be ever enter in to a saving relationship with God : God would not just need to be visible to me but also revealed IN ME.

To send his Son - this was not all God did!
He also sent his Spirit to be IN ME!

God not just speaks to me and shows the truth through Jesus to me
God also opens my eyes and ears to see and hear this truth by sending his Spirit

The Main work of the Spirit:
To apply what the Son did to my live!
John 16,13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

2. Cor 3,17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

John 14,17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
John 15,26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Fatherhe will testify about me.

Acts 16,7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.
Rom 8,9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.

Satan is blinding the eyes of unbelievers
Spirit of God is opening my eyes/mind - so i can see the truth!
The truth of who God is and the truth of who we are.

The Holy Spirit manifests the truth of our fallen condition and thereby produces conviction and repentance in our lives.
John 16,8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Th Holy Spirit opens the hearts and minds of people
Acts 16,14 One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.
1. Cor 12,3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
1. John 4,2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

We receive the truth from the Holy Spirit and in him we become Children of God
John 3,5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
Rom 8,15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Gal 4,5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. 6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
1. John 2,20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son.
1. John 5,6 This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

The Holy Spirit infuses me with the love of Christ so that I my live in the truth
Rom 5,5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Eph 2,18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

in doing all of this
the Spirit is simply pointing people to the one who is truth: JESUS CHRIST.

He is confronting and reversing the deceptive assumption of the flesh in our lives.
He is unveiling the true God for us,
revealed in Jesus Christ,
so that he might reveal our true identity as people who are loves by God.
We can begin to be made whole when we with the guiding of the Holy Spirit, picture and experience God as one who loves us so much he would become a man and die fo us, and when we allow this picture of God to confront everything else we may think w know bout God.
FOR WE ARE ONLY AS HEALTHY AS OUR PICTURE OF GOD IS ACCURATE.
TO THINK OF CHRIST IS TO THINK OF GOD
In Jesus we have a concrete, tangible and personal picture of God.
This is why Jesus tells his disciples that when people see him they are seeing the Father
John12,45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.
John 14, 8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

When people believe in him, they are believing in the Father
John12,44 Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.
1. John 2,23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

People reject him they rejecting the father ...
John 13,20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.

The compassion of Jesus was the compassion of GOD Almighty
Mat 9,36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Mat 14,14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
Mat 20,34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.
Luk 7,13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”

The love and acceptance he demonstrated toward those whom others judged to be unacceptable
tax collectors
handicapped
prostitutes
adulterers
beggars
lepers
WAS THE LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE FATHER
Mat 8,2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Mat 9,10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Mat 11,19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”
Mat 20,34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.
Mat 26,6 While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon the Leper,
Mk 10,46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. 51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” 52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
Lk 5,29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. 30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
Lk 7,34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ 35 But wisdom is proved right by all her children.” 36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. 39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.” 40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, teacher,” he said. 41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,3 and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?” 43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said. 44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” 48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” 49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” 50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Lk 15,1 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
John 8,3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
John 9,1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. 8 His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?”

Everything that Jesus did, God did, for in Christ "the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily"
Col 2,9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,

Jesus Christ: The revelation of the True God
John1,1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Col 1,15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
Hebr 1,3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Jesus the Son of God

No one can see God / No one ever saw God - the invisible, infinite essence of God

John 1,18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and2 is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
Exod 33,20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”
John 6,46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.
Col 1,15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
1 Tim 1,16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

Jesus Christ: The Revelation of the True God

Jesus Christ : fully God & fully man

In Jesus we see what God would do and how he is
John 1,1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome1 it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.
8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Col 2,9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
Titus 2,13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
2. Petr 1,1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:
Rom 9,5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.
1. John 5,20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
John 20,28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Mat 28,9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him.
17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.John 9,35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.” 37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.” 38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
John 20,31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Acts 16,31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
Hebr 1,6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”

Jesus = God >>> Worship

Through Jesus, God makes himself fully known

OVERCOMING THE FLESH

Being holy
loving
kind
patient
...
this are not new rules / it is not about meeting a obligation

they have meaning only insofar as they manifest the new life that is found in Christ
they are descriptions of what real life looks like / they are not about how to get life

THE ONLY WAY TO GET LIFE IS TO ACCEPT BY FAITH THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS.

Paul described the new life of a believer
lived out of fullness rather than emptiness Gal 5,16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

The fruit of the spirit is manifested in our lives as we cease trying to produce it on our own and yield to the Spirit's loving influence in our lives.

NOW how does the Spirit produce the fruit in us.
By confronting the 4 aspects of the flesh.

The Spirit of truth Confronts Deception

Satan lies to us:
GOD IS NOT GOOD
WE MISS OUT, BECAUSE OF GOD

WE ARE NOT PEOPLE WHOCAN POSSESSA FULLNESS OF LIFE BY BEING WHOLLY DEPENDENT UPON GOD.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS CALLED TO SPIRIT OF THRUTH
John 14,17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

John 15,26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.

1. Cor 12,3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

2. Cor 3,3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

The word truth in greek means: NOT COVERED. / interesting ...

The Spirit of truth confronts the deception of the flesh by uncovering before our eyes and hearts
the truth about
God
&
the truth about
us.

He does it by pointing us to the person JESUS

Everything the Holy Spirit does in restoring our lives is directly or indirectly related to his central work of POINTING US TO JESUS CHRIST.

Helpful is:
look at each aspect of the truth in Christ
that the Spirit revelas,
namely,
the truth of God and the truth of our identity in Christ.

Hiddenness Is Unnatural
God is light John1,5 / 1.John1,5 / 2.Cor 6,14 / 1.Thess 5,5 // We are built in to God's image - We are build to not hide anything. Secrecy is foreign to our created nature
Satan is darkness

Hiddenness Causes Spiritual Starvation
Hiddenness keeps shame inside but also Love stays outside.
I will never be loved unconditionally because no one see who i truly am - so they all love some one but not the real me.
BUT
The most essential need i have is: UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND WORTH

Try harder just keeps up some one unreal.

Hiddenness Conceals Wounds
my emptiness leads to performance, which in turn leads to an intensified emptiness, which in turn leads to an intensified performance, and so on!
Concealed wounds can not be healed - they get deeper and deeper!

RESTING YOUR WAY TO FREEDOM
WHAT CAN I DO TO GET OUT OF THE ENTRAPMENT?
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

The harder you struggle, the faster you sink

THE ONLY WAY TO GET FREE FROM THE ENTRAPMENT OF THE FLESH IS TO GIVE YO AND SURRENDER TO THE SPIRIT.

WE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO REST IN CHRIST.

D E S T R U C T I O N
Gen 2,16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

The 4 aspect of the flesh is the
CONSEQUENCE
of the first 3.

GOD IS LIFE
WHEN I AM SEPARATED FROM GOD - I DIE

I am kicked out of the Garden and blocked from the TREE OF LIFE.
Gen 3,22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

I AM BLOCKED FROM GOD's PROVISION.

The death that flesh brings is a judgment from God.
or a natural consequence of living in the flesh.

When ever i stop trusting God
I have to seek a strategy of getting life
When i perform such a strategy, i have to hide all which is inconsistent with this strategy
When i am hiding part of my self, i am in process of destroying my selfe

Hiddenness is unnatural
causes spiritual starvation
conceals wounds
:::
For this reason, it invariably leads to destruction

Better now
Talked with my wife honestly
Went out 10 Minutes nothing

now

just here

I am just here
I am loved by God

The todo-list is most important - will do this now!
What is important?

Am i ready for the meetings thursday and saturday?

What else i want to do?
What else i need to do?
Which question is more important?
That i can write this down shows that i have just a lot of time now! be thankful for this much time!

What is this?

it starts again - out of emptiness!

i think i am hurt

why is this important?
Is it trust i want back?
Respect?
For what if i am loved from God, the creator?
Or was just my selfish dreams and desires not fulfilled?
Could be

H i d d e n n e s s
Gen 3,7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. 8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

If i believe the lie, i must get value for my selfe apart from God.
So i must hide everything about me that isn't consistent with the performance i am giving.

Adam & Eve could no longer simply be who they are
Cloth and hide themselves

God confronts them - even so - they push their shame to someone else by blaming them for their sin

INSTED OF TRUSTING GOD's MERCY AND CONFESSING THEIR SIN, THEY HID FROM GOD BEHIND HALF-TRUTHS Gen 3,9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” 11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” 12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Having eaten from the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil,
they now judge that their nakedness before each other and before God was a bad thing
and thus that hiding was a good thing.

Seeking life besides God - is seeking in:
finding life in my doing
finding life in how i appear
finding life in what i acquire on my own

even i would be successful it is not fulfilling
so
i have emptiness and same that i try to hide
the reality who i am must be suppressed for the sake of who i want to be and what i want to do in order of getting life

if i want others agree with my opinion - i cover up all doubts i have
if i want to be seen successful - i cover up all failures
if i want to be holy  - i cover up all struggles with sin
the idol form which i want to get life determines what behaviors we mus display and what realities we mus conceal.

HIDDENNESS OF THE FLESH IS THE FLIP SIDE OF THE PERFORMANCE ORIENTATION OF THE FLESH

It is part of the pattern of the world
it leads many to:
cover up their problems
hide their true feelings
or conceal their aging wrinkles

i say i am fine even i am not
eating to much - eating disorders
obsessive-compulsive behaviors

I AM MORE CONCERNED WITH HOW THINGS LOOK THAN WITH HOW THINGS ARE.
so i invest mor in things people see about me
i do not much invest in the sides or things only God can see

A culture of secrets is alive

WILLPOWER IS NOT BEST TO START TO BE OPEN AND CONFESS WHO I REALLY AM.
Willpower alone cannot change fundamentally my character / inner wounds
Willpower can change temporarily how i behave
Willpower <> IF I LOOK BETTER, I AM BETTER

BUT

Their is little correlation between appearance and reality
A person may look very emotionally and spiritually healthy while being very sick
Often a person tries hard to look good on the outside precisely because he or she is sick on the inside

HOEVER
HIDING WHAT NEEDS TO BE HEALED BEHIND A FACADE OF HEALTHY APPEARANCE SUCCEDDS ONLY IN MAKING THE PERSON SICKER.

Secular and Religious Versions of the Lie
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><

I assume i must get life from God/gods on the basis of what i do

The pattern of this world that impacts me every day of my life includes the lie that fullness of life is to be found in:
BEAUTY
SEXUALITY
WEALTH

THERE ALWAYS IS SOMETHING I HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO BE FULFILLED.
That i get life from something i am doing or acquire.
Rom 12,2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

When i feel i am missing out on this real life,
my false beliefe leads me into destruction, anxiety, depression, anger, frustration.
love
joy
peace
patience
are suppressed in my life to the extent that we accept this deceptive worldview.
JUST TRY HARDER WILL NOT HELP

The flesh in religious form
There it is driven by the same hunger like in the world.
I find God's approval in how much i do what? Mission, succes, great sermons, success as a leader of my stuff i lead, ...
Also i try hard to manifest the fruit of the spirit.

Yet if these things are done out of emptiness rather than fullness, they are simply religious versions of the flesh.
If they are done to acquire a worth rather than simply express a fullness of life we already have for free because of our relationship with Christ, they are as carnal as trying to experience worth by using a certain brand of hair conditioner!

Whether the form of the lie and performance is religious or secular however, it leads to another aspect of the flesh: hiddenness.
FOUR ASPECTS OF THE FLESH - 3

Flesh-State of being starts with
DECEPTION ---- this leads to
PERFORMANCE ---- this requires
HIDDENNESS ----- fully ends in
DESTRUCTION

HOW DOES THE SPIRIT OF GOD CONFRONTS THEM?
Genesis 3 as the example

D E C E P T I O N
The first aspect of the flesh in the story of Genesis3 is deception:
Gen 3,1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

1.this lie was the initiation of the rebellion against God
John 8,44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Every thing what is evil and destructive in the world - this lie is behind it.
the heart of the flesh

This lie has 3 aspects
Satan deceived Eva about HOW GOD IS
God created Adam and Eva out of his abundance of love, IN HIS IMAGE: Gen 1,27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
FOR THE PURPOSE OF SHARING HIMSELF WITH THEM.
1. John 4,8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
We are build like God - SO - only God can fill us! Only God is enough to be enough for me.

THE LIE OF SATAN WAS & IS:
GOD IS NOT REALLY LOVING AND GIVING AT ALL
Even
GOD IS THREATENED BY THE FREEDOM AND POTENTIAL OF HUMAN BEINGS.
Even
GOD's MOTIVES FOR FORBIDDING ADAM AND EVE FROM EATING THE FRUIT OF THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL WERE PURLY SELFISH.

Satan said:"IF YOU BELIEVE GOD LOVES YOU AND HAS YOUR BEST INTERESTS IN MIND, YOU ARE WROMG! GOD IS KEEPING YOUR EYES CLOSED AND PREVENTING YOU FORM REALIZING YOUR FULL POTENTIAL BECAUSE HE DOESN'T WANY ANY COMPETITION!"

2. second aspect: WHO IS ADAM AND EVE
this is just the flip-side of the first aspect.
My view of my selfe is inseparable from my view of our Creator
Satan lied: That the freedom was somehow separate from God.
Satan lied: Adam and Eve would have much more potential than God would have them believe!
So implied of this lie was
that Adam and Eve could improve their life by doing something.: Fullness of life was to be acquiring, doing something.
THEY WERE DEFINED NOT BY WHAT THEIR CREATOR THOUGHT ABOUT THEM AND DID FOR THEM BUT BY WHAT THEY THOUGHT ABUOT THEMSELVES AND EACH OTHER BASED ON WHAT THEY DID.

When i am not filled with God - i try to be filled by what i do!
We are created to receive and give God's love and life, my life now consist in judging ourselves, others, things, and even God himself as a strategy for getting life.

SIN: it is always about people trying to fill a vacuum in their inner being by what they do rather then receiving it for free from the one who alone can truly fill it.

P E R F O R M A N C E
Second aspects follows directly from the first one.

When i believe, who i am it is about what i am doing - rather then trusting in my Creator - i act on this believe.
As strategy for getting  life, i perform.
Gen 3,6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Tree of knowledge of GOOD AND EVIL
My job is to love how God loves NOT to judge as God judges.

I can not enjoy God's love so long as i am acting like God in judging.
MY JUDGMENT BLOCKS GOD's LOVE FLOWING INTO AND THROUGH US.

Tree of Life and Tree of knowledge of good and evil are next to each other: the life God intents for us revolves around our honoring God's prohibition as much as trusting God for his provision.
Therefor the strong teaching against judging other:
Mat 7,1Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Rom 2,1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
Rom 14,1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. 5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written: “ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ ”12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. 13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. 19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall. 22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.
James 4,11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

If eve would remain in union with God - If i would remain in union with God - violating God's prohibition would not have looked appealing to her / to me.

When i accept a lie about who God is - also i believe a lie who i am: then my perception of the world is clouded by deception

like a starving man for whom insects begin to look appetizing
the inner emptiness that results from our separation form God makes things in the world seem like viable candidates to fill our lives.
WE SEE THE WORLD THROUGH THE EYES OF OUR HUNGER!

The forbidden tree appeared to hold the promise of independence and was "desirable for gaining wisdom - Gen3,6"
I act on the lie i embrace

i life in a way that would be appropriate IF THE SERPENT-SATAN WAS RIGHT.
THAT IS:
If God is not able to fill me with life - i would need to strive for fullness of life by doing things and acquiring things.
As i life in the flesh, i assume that my worth must be acquired from the world around us and by our own effort.

CHAPTER 2

the pattern of this world

Galatian were falling into the "try harder" solution

They accepted false teaching, that faith in Jesus is insufficient
the only way to combat ungodly behavior was by living under a system of rules:
this system would prohibit such behavior and motivate godly behavior.
Gal 5,1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Paul: Genuine righteous living, Paul argued, was the result not of striving but of yielding to the Spirit of God - WHO DWELLS IN US WHEN WE BELIEVE.

LIVING IN THE SPIRIT
Gal 5,16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

the fruit of the Spirit is not a set of goals
the fruit of the Spirit is not a oughts believers must struggle to fulfill
PAUL DOES NOT PORTRAY THEM AS SOMETHING BELIEVERS DO AT ALL
Rather,
he says that they collectively constitute the fruit of the Spirit: by contrasting life in the Spirit with its opposite, life in the flesh

The Flesh Is Not Our Nature
What is the "flesh"?
NIV: "sinful nature"Gal 5,16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
BUT
The believers nature is no longer Sinful! We are no longer essentially sinful.
The Bible is certainly realistic about the ongoing struggle i as a believer have with sin.
But i as a christian am described as holy, blameless, righteous and dead to sin.
The believer is IN CHRIST. Not only positionally but actually.
OLD THINGS HAVE PAST AWAY: 2. Cor 5,17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

TO SUPPOSE THAT OUR IDENTITY - OR NATURE - IS YET SINFUL IS TO DENY THE FULL FORCE OF TGHIS BIBLICAL TRUTH.

The Flesh Stat of Being
If the flesh is not just, or like the Sinful Nature - what is it then?
What about:"deceptive state of being"(according to Gregory A. Boyd - also all the rest is from him, from his book: "Seeing is Believing")
The flesh is not the a nature that is essential to someone's identity.
It is rather a deceptive way of seeing and experiencing oneself and one's world and thus a deceptive way of living in he world. It is that way of thinking, experiencing, and living that is conformed to "the pattern of this world" Rom 12,2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

It is a way of existence that comes naturally to fallen creatures, but it is not itself a "nature"

The flesh is a worldview: based on the lie. >> opposes the truth.
The truth: God created us to be depended on him - completely
Satan: We can do better living independent from God: Gen 3,1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.

The truth: God created us with a beautiful, incurable need for love and worth to be derived from him, but the deception of Satan that characterizes the flesh says that we can meet our own needs.

The truth: God desires to make our lives full by graciously pouring his won life and love into us, but the flesh says that God is incapable or unwilling to give us full life.
so
if our lives are to be full,
the flesh concludes,
it will have to come about by what we can do, how we can look, what we can acquire, and so on

Living in the flesh:
Living in deception
Living in opposition to truth
Living as if God is not really God
Living as the Bible would lie about who God is
Living to create worth
Living to create value
Living to create fulfillment
BUT WE COULD RECEIVE IT ALL FREELY FROM GOD: WORTH, VALUE, FULFILLMENT.
Therefore:
materialism
acquire more and more
anxious efforts to improve my looks
achieving more then every one else has
obsessed to procuring God's favor through my particular religious beliefs or ethical beavior.
JANIS JOPLIN sings:
Oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz.
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends.
So oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz.
Oh lord won't you buy me a color TV.
Dialing for Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until 3.
So oh lord won't you buy me a color TV.
Oh lord won't you buy me a night on the town.
I'm counting on you lord, please don't let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round.
Oh lord won't you buy me a night on the town.
Everybody, Oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz.
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends.
So oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz.

BUT: WHO WE ARE AND GOD IS, IS GOOD

The Warfare of the Believer
Satan is the ruler of the world
John 12,31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out.
John 14,30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me,
John 16,11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
Eph 2,2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
2. Cor 4,4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
1. John 5,19 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
John 8,43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
2. Cor 4,4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

I have a new identity
still i most struggle with "pattern of this world".

i need to demolish his strongholds i my mind
strongholds that are set up against "THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD".
My struggle is: "take every thought captive to obey Christ"
2. Cor 10,4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

MY STRUGGLE IS TO BELIEVE AND EXPERIENCE THE TRUTH OF WHO GOD IS AND WHAT HE IS FOR ME

It is not our essential nature against which we are struggling.
I struggle with what is opposed to our true nature in Christ.
IN FACT:
we only struggle because we have a new nature!

only because i am in the light i recognize darkness as what it is - DARK
2.Cor 4,6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
Eph 5,8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light
1.Thess 5,5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

<          !           >

SO
THERE IS A WARFARE
Gal 5,17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

i long to be controlled by the spirit : BUT : my experienced self-identity is continually influenced by the  flesh
WE ARE CONTINUALLY BEING SQUEEZED INTO THE PATTERN OF THIS WORLD THAT SURROUNDS US.

This keeps us from fully manifesting the fruit of the Spirit and i am bond to the world.
We are influenced by the deceptions of the flesh - so i am pushed to walk as this deception is real. AS i would not be a holy Child of GOD!

The only way to confront this deception is in the very heart of it!
Not in the behavior.
TO LIVE IN THE SPIRIT, THEN, IS TO LIVE IN SUCH A WAY THAT
THE LIE OF THE FLESH IS CONFRONTED
AND
INCREASINGLY OVERCOME IN OUR LIVES.

BELIEVE GOD <> BELIEVE IN GOD <> BELIEVE WHO GOD IS <> BELIEVE IT IS MY GOD

John 10,10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
How exactly does the Spirit confront the flesh in our lives?
How is this confrontation brought about?
To gain a full understanding of this and to set the stage for our discussion of the exercise of resting in Christ in Part 2, it will be helpful to look at four distinct aspects of the flesh that the Spirit confronts.

Cry-y-y ... ha ha ha ha ... baby, cry baby, cry baby,
Welcome back home.

I know she told you,
I know she told you that she loved you
Much more than I do,
But I know she left you,
And you swear that you just don't know why,
Well, you know that I'll always be round
If you ever want me
Come on and cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry baby, yeah,
Oh, like you always seem to do.

Don't you know,
Honey, nobody ever gonna love you
The way I try to do.
Who'll be willing to take your pain
And all your heartache, too ?
Honey, I swear I'll always, I'll always be around
If you ever want me
Come on and cry, cry baby, cry baby yeah, cry baby, yeah,
Oh daddy, welcome back home, yeah.

I know when you're sharp and round, babe,
Seems like the grass always looks greener,
When you're looking over there in somebody else's back-yard
So I know what you're tryin' to tell me
When you say, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama,
I've gotta go out shopping for my life
I've gotta find my, my own true third eye,
Hare Krishna identity out there on the road there.

And although it may be comfortable here
Sleeping in all your nice bed with all those satin sheets
And all that nice fur, eatin' all that chicken
Gettin' stoned, havin' a good time I have to go and rough it
I have to go to Africa
Or I have to go to Omaha, or some place like that,
I have to find myself, you know what I mean ?
So there's this stud, man, walkin' around the fuckin' highways of America with a pack on his back
Lookin' for his identity, right ?

Well, I want to say baby don't you know you left your mama here all alone ?
You left your good lovin' mama right at home
And that should be identity enough for any man, ha ha ha!
So I said baby, I know that you're gonna come home to me some day
And I'll be able to tell when you walk in my front door
I do, I just do believe that I can be lookin' in your eyes
So Lord, you finally realize
So you can put your head on my shoulder, babe,
'Cause I know you got some more tears to share,
Come on, let it go,
So come on, come on, come on, come on, come on,
Honey, cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry,

Honey when you got some more tears to shed
Honey I won't let a man stand in your way, babe,
You have to snap all your fear from the door house away dear
You just gotta let it go, baby, come on,
Honey cry, oh, cry to me baby.

Is it a hit or a miss ?
