Paul and Silas singing in prison and the other prisoners hear them singing.... they were singing out laud!
They were severely beaten, flogged, lashed... bloody...
How could they even sit without pain?
They were together - encouraged each other... maybe the idea, that they are romans, made them little bit happy ? ... But to start singing in the hole and not just wait angry for the moment to let the leaders know about their citizenship shows me - it was something else in them, that they started singing:-)

How much pain they had - how much bigger was their joy!
How much seal! To start singing in a dark hole!
How motivated to praise God where ever!
How much faith in God, that they thought about praising him even in the prison!
How real most God have been for them, so that they could sing to him!
How different they thought about life, that they where able to do this, that they were able to see God now
