1.Cor1,18 For the message of the cross is foolishness > The cross is foolishness. Because we think to die is the end. But it is the beginning. Because God is not powerful and he can not rise some one from the death. to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. > The power of God. In the cros he made it possible to forgive us. God is love : Love became most powerful at the cross.
19 For it is written:I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. > yeah - out of human wisdom no one would ever say: Yeah, lets die on a cross in order to save humanity!
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? > When i see the world, how it goes and goes - i think i am not alone saying it isn't going well. It is going downhill!
21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, > In Romans Paul talks about the fact, that the world was not thankful to God as the reason why they have no faith. Here he talks, that wisdom does not make you knowing God. God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. > The foolishness of te preaching. The preaching which God can use to infuse faith in humans is than leading in people who believe God.
INFUSE FAITH IN HUMEN, WHEN YOU PREACH! CHRISTOPH!
Wisdom is not the thing they need. THEY NEED FAITH!!!!!!
22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, > Why? Because they were used to a God who did miraculous? The Miracle does not build faith. It just makes you wonder!
23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling-block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, > The Son of God on a cross : You can say - No way. You can say - stupid!
BUT WE PREACH CHRIST CRUCIFIED?
DO I ?24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. > Here it comes again. GOD CALLED! Not men! It feels like true love. God is calling not me inviting some one. But through me God calls. This is awesome for me and for the person who is invited! But it is botom line never the act of the human but the act of God in the human. Both of them. The caller and the be called!
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. > OK - yes
26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. > How did the church look like? How does our church look like. How do i look like. I AM NOT IMPRESSIVE. But the love in the fellowship is impressive. Again: It is not Christoph. It is all of us. But not us - much more what we are together. The in between.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. > I can see that. 2Million slaves are walking out of Aegypt. Gideon. David. Elia. Paul. Even Jesus, being impressive but died on a cross.
When can God work through my weeknes. When i am not selfish.
28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things- and the things that are not- to nullify the things that are,
29 so that no-one may boast before him. > STOP BOASTING CHRISTOPH! BE humble!
30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, > YES not because of me. GOD KEEP ME AS YOUR DISCIPLE! who has become for us wisdom from God- that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
31 Therefore, as it is written: Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.
> Is my preaching infusing faith in people
> Am i preaching the cross
> Am i boasting in the Lord? I do not even know how to!
> Am i fighting selfishness to let God become strong through me? - DO I HAVE A FIGHT-PLAN?
